We all loved the self-aware joke about Skyrim being ported to Alexa enabled device, which by the way, there is now a smart toilet in which you can play Skyrim. During Todd Howard’s speech, he mentioned that even today, millions of people are playing Skyrim each month. That is a staggering statistic for a game that came out in 2011 and is not an MMO. To the people who chide Bethesda for continuing to release the game on new hardware, he replied, “If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it.”
While fairly straight forward, it highlights something that we’ve been talking about a lot in regards to loot boxes, you have to vote with your feet. It also is a good reminder that for the most part, companies are not willfully stupid. If they are remastering and re-releasing titles, it’s because that’s where the money and demand is.
